Oh, my Lord, we are a month away from the infamous "Stay Home" Anniversary. Why did that cross my mind, thanks for asking. I have to reflect and acknowledge current day events. In the last 7 days the news has shown some of us having encountered COVID vaccinations, ice, snow, no power, no water, no Mardi Gras, no King Cake, and did I mention the Holy Lenten Season started as well. I know that is a lot. I remember starting Lent last year and boom "Stay Home" mandate was staring at me as well. The days have truly been running into each other ever since March of 2020 and I bet you #DidntSeeThatComing.
How are you? I'm chilled! This phrase has always been a favorite answer for me. As I sit here staring at this corner of my couch in which I tell folks that is Jesus' seat (another blog for another day). So much has occurred in a year, in the last week that none of us ever thought we would see or experience. I have taken the oath of not complaining because things could truly be worse. Month after month last year something different happened whether it was good, bad, indifferent, and we #DidntSeeThatComing. I recall how social media updates would persuade the news anchors because the trend of "it's a new month let's see what will happen now" became the hottest subject matter. I was hurt and disappointed with the challenges of our government more so than anything last year. I saw things that I had read about in textbooks that I never imagined witnessing at this tender age of mine. Will any good come of these things? We were all anxiously anticipating the arrival of 2021! Oh 2021, has started with major bangs as well. January gave us a sight in one day that took us back as a nation 60yrs. February thus far has shown us that Punxsutawney Phil does not like show and tell. I have something for you to see this year and beyond a little better. We should have taught ourselves in this last year how to be better transparent, patient, and graceful.
Allow me to help you.... YES, I have a story 🤔 I am reminded of one of a man, a beggar even who just happened to be blind. He #DidntSeeThatComing regarding everything in his life as in his condition. He got excited just as I am thinking of his story when he heard that Jesus was near and about to pass by. I wonder, what would you ask the Son of Man today? The Blind Beggar asked that the Lord have mercy on him....Jesus' distance wasn't too far yet the haters, complainers, folks who were not physically blind yet could not see real faith and worship tried their best to deter and silence The Blind Beggar he #DidntSeeThatComing either. The people were telling him to hush, let it be, and he simply got louder then Jesus beckoned for him. The Blind Beggar asked to have his sight recovered...and because of his faith he was well, IMMEDIATELY sight recovered! (for the original story please read (Mark 10:46-52).
In all the calamity, turmoil, chaos, confusion, weather woes, COVID still present, virtual school, work from home, empty grocers, limited celebrations for birth or death, or anything else you feel you #DidntSeeThatComing, I want you to open your eyes for real. If you are reading this, you saw God! If you can still hear notifications on any of your apparatuses, you saw God! If you can smell the meal prepped by what was already in your house, you saw God! If you bathed and dressed yourself, you saw God! STOP allowing the lil imp to place you in the #DidntSeeThatComing negative world. It is all about perspective. The Blind Beggar believed his change was coming daily probably at the same stoop waiting for his miracle. He was faithful. Allow yourself to have a #DidntSeeThatComing moment for the good for a change. Witness to someone and lift spirits, share a meal or necessities some may not have, drop social media and play a board game (Scattagories is my junt 😉) or cards, frolic in the snow, stop texting and have a real face to face conversation longer than 3mins, even better pick up the phone and be of good cheer. Ahhhhhh you thought I forgot about Lent NOPE do something completely against the grid shock your mind and body! When God does His best work I always think I #DidntSeeThatComing.
Shoutout to My Goddaughter, Kayla celebrating 25yrs 🎂 on today. She and her friend gave this topic in their own way, thank you both!
Hello Monica! I’m chilled also, my voice is almost a 100% and I have a new job. Crazy how things change. Miss you!
